Continuing on with Romans 8:28---

Fourthly, Good works in all things for the good of those who love him.

This is a necessary limitation. Paul is not saying that everything tends to everybody’s good in the end. No, the beneficiaries are his people who are described as those who love him. Most of Paul’s references in Romans to love are to God’s love for us. But here it is our love for God.

This certainly is a common biblical concept, since the first and great commandment is that we love God with all our being.

Do you love God? We are not talking about living this out to perfection. We are never going to do that. (I’m going to talk more about this later). But we can know if we love God. And if we do—Wow! God works in all things for the good of those who love him. Wow!
