WHEN DO YOU READ?

When do you read? Summer? Winter? All the time?

I read all of the time--winter, spring, summer, fall. But living in the desert I probably read more in the summer in the house with the air conditioner going. However, I like to curl up by the fireplace with a book in the winter. Yes, it does get cold here in the winter.

I assume that those of you living in the colder climates may read more in the winter and get outside and run around more in the summer. But, of course, I could be wrong.

My daughter is a voracious reader and she likes to lay out by the pool and read. Not me!

I see people reading novels while waiting for an appointment, on an airplane, in a restaurant, sitting on a bench in a park or waiting for a bus. Not me. I like to be alone when I read.

What about you? When do you read?

I read year-round. Rainy days are great to curl up with a book to read. I take a book with me everywhere. My husband does most of the driving so I read on the way to wherever we are going. (I've gotten better at this and not read the entire time and do have conversations more actually.) I read when I'm waiting for appointments. I read a little bit before bedtime some nights. I'm wondering how many books I'll be able to read sitting in line waiting to pick up some little boy from school in a few months.

Hi, Clif-
I've been enjoying your blog for quiet awhile now and my adult children inform me that it's polite to leave a comment now and then. And my Mom always said, "Above all, be polite!"

I read year round. Rainy days are great for curling up with a good book, but alas, we don't have many of those in the Los Angeles area. I don't like to read a book while waiting for an appointment. Too many distractions, I guess. So, for those times a magazine seems to work for me.

Blessings,
Kim

Hi Clif. Thanks so much for dropping by and leaving your kind comments on my Blue Monday post. (By the way...love Joe's Crab Shack...we've got it here in Kansas City too.)

I love to read and like many teachers, love to teach reading. My love for the written word started early and I was that child snuggled under her blankets with flashlight and chapter book(s) (often several going at once). I also developed a love of writing, although I don't journal as often as I should. I am trying to be better about that now that I am a mother.

I can read anywhere at anytime. Quiet is best, but I have been known to miss my name being called a time or two in a waiting room!

Peace and blessings from Kansas,
Valerie

P.S. I left you a message on your book review, "Reclaiming our Children".

I read any time I am not doing something else that might prevent reading. I carry my current read with me when we go on errands, just in case I might be able to get a page or two in.

I like to read when it is quiet and I have no distractions esp. if I am working on a meeting for the ladies at my church---I need to concentrate--thanks for stopping by my post--you should have read Count your Blessings--you probably would have enjoyed that.

Ah! 24/7, 365...if I could get away with it, that is!
In all seriousness, I have to "allow" myself space and uninterrupted time -- providing there's no silly chores left undone that nag my subconscious. (Color me "crabby" if unnecesarily interrupted!)
My favorite venue is the love seat; hubby's on the sofa, similarly face-in-a-book! Unfortunately, as we've grown older, our eyes tend to slam shut all too soon!
PS ... I save the "bubble-gum for the eyes" (sort of easy reads) for waiting rooms and airports.
Thanks for this fun post!

Hi Clif,
I am like a lot of your commenters, I need quiet and plenty of time (I tend to enter into the tale) and I remember being called more than once to "come set the table" when I was a kid! While waiting for appointments, etc. I tend to settle for a magazine article. I especially enjoy reading before sleep.

Hi Clif,
I love to read. It's one of my favourite past times and any old time of the year suits me just fine. I always read before I go to bed at night. Have a nice day.

Blessings,
Sandi

I read year-around, whenever I can find time. I do take a book with me to appointments, etc. I also read when we go on vacation. We are leaving Saturday for a week's vacation at Marco Island, so I hope to get some reading done!

Every chance I get--and yes, I take my book to the doctors, in the car, etc.
