We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in 2008. Our children helped us celebrate with an all expense paid all arranged vacation In Hawaii.

Every year I put up lights.
Every year after Christmas I say, "I don't think I'll take the lights down this year. We'll just turn around a few times and it will be time to put them back up."
Every year I take them down.
I JUST DID!

As time goes by, we do less and less decorating for the holidays - but some things are essential....the nativity on the mantle etc. We put everything up so late this year, that we're leaving them up a little longer. We want to enjoy the lights a bit longer.

Reading your post reminded me of my hubby. We are thinking of paying our highschool daughter's friends next year to hang the lights and then take them down. This way we are helping the youth of today, and we are still enjoying our lights!
