DOES GOD HEAR OUR PRAYERS?

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Admit it, there have been times when you have wondered if God hears your prayers.

We want to understand how things work--and when we don't, we find it hard to believe.

If radio's slim fingers can pluck a melody
From night--and toss it over a continent or sea;
If the petaled white notes of a violin
Are blown across the mountains or the city's din;
If songs, like crimson roses, are culled from thin blue air---
Why should mortals wonder if God hears prayer?
                                                  --Ethel Romig Fuller

I have been young and now I am old and God has been faithful to answer my prayers.

I don't understand prayer anymore now than when I was young.

I don't understand prayer but I BELIEVE in prayer! I BELIEVE IN GOD!

AMEN!

I KNOW He not only hears our prayers but He answers our prayers when we are praying God's word.

I think about the movie BRUCE ALMIGHTY, starring Jim Carey. Bruce takes over for God, temporarily to learn some lessons. Bruce hears millions of prayer all at once and is overcome with the all the need out there. He comes to understand how much work God has to do!!!
How comforting it is to know God does hear our prayers, and will answer them in His way and in His timing, for His glory.

I believe He hears us but not necessarily will answer everything we ask for. He knows what's best. For His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. Have a great weekend and God bless.

that's faith - believing without understanding.

How did you know I needed to read this! Yes I believe. Even when I can't see the answers, His timing is right.

I know He hears and answers prayer!
He may not always answer in the way we would like Him to but He always answers.

Blessings,

I believe too! I was flipping through the channels today and Religulous with Bill Maher was on showtime. I only watched for 10 minutes before I shut it off. I find it profoundly sad that he hates God so much, the movie essentially mocks God. He saw no miracles, only coincidences. How can one go through life with no faith? it astounds me...

I agree with you and everyone else who has already commented.

Clif,

Wonderful poem to accompany your most awesome truth. Loved your post today. Prayer is the pipeline between our heart's desires..our soul and God's ear. Oh how I cannot even put in words how grateful I am to know that there is a God, He is my God, and that HE hears my prayers, every single one of them. It is a mystery, but I truly believe it with all my heart. Prayer with God can be some of the most intimate moments in life we will ever know while on this earth. Thank you for a moving post. God is good. Blessings....

I love your last line, Clif!!!

Sometimes, when we don't "get our own way" it's easy to feel like God's not listening - but
like that line from a country song, "I thank God for unanswered prayers." Always, He knows best.

Hope you're enjoying a beautiful day!

sometimes I do wonder if God hears me...or where did He go. But He always comes through. It's me who wanders off. It's me who races ahead. It's me who forgets to include Him. Thank you for sharing this....

Hi Clif, I've missed your wonderful posts as of late, but so glad I visited today. I also believe in prayer...the Lord has proven His love and provision for me time and time again. I have been praying for my family, and know that the Lord hears my heart as I cry out for them. I can leave it at the feet of Jesus, and enjoy the peace that comes from knowing that His Word is true and unfailing.

Thanks for always being an inspiration...God bless!

Thanks, I needed this post today. In my impatience at times, it seems like God does not hear even though I know He does. I love the poem!

Love the poem.

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." from Isaiah 55

I believe he hears all of my prayers.

Rich blessings to you,
Dianne

Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem. I believe God hears and answers our prayers. My husband and brother just returned from a "dream" trip; most definitely an answer to many prayers after illness.
I am visiting you through my sister's blog, Karen at Lily Valley.
Wishing you many blessings this day.

I believe that God hears and answers each and every prayer. Sometimes He says "yes"; sometimes "no" and sometimes "wait". Everything is according to His plan and His timing. I have seen Him answer many prayers, and I have heard Him answer some of mine.

Thank you for this beautiful post.
