OVERFLOWING WITH HOPE

Tuesday, December 06, 2011

So I pray that God, who gives you hope,
will keep you happy and full of peace
as you believe in him. May you over-
flow with hope through the power of the
Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

It has always been easy for me to get mental pictures of things.

But for the life of me I can't get a mental picture of overflowing with hope.

I have tried. But nothing that comes to mind is good enough.

"Overflowing with hope" is beyond my mental capacity.

Read this passage, Romans 15:13 again. Read it slowly and deliberately. Think about what it means.

Isn't it wonderful? Absolutely wonderful!

I want to say with the Apostle Paul: "May you overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."

I agree...hard! But maybe it has something to do with the happiness and peace it speaks of first. We do know that God gives hope -- just like all the other gifts from Him.

Absolutely wonderful is right!

What a wonderful mental exercise, trying to visualize this passage as I wait for sleep!
Gives a whole new meaning to the saying, "Sweet dreams."

Yes, this is a hard one to get a mental image on. The way it makes sense to me is when you are going through something really tough and yet at times, this joy and hope leak through at unexpected times. It is inexplicable, yet we know where it comes from. It could only be the Spirit! Lori
