I love Eugene Peterson's paraphrase of 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 in THE MESSAGE
So we're not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever.
Hello Cliff,
ReplyDeleteI do like Mr Peterson's paraphrase of one of my favorite scripture's of Hope. Especially of these hard times being small potatoes in comparison to what good times are coming. Thank you for sharing.
Blessings,
Sue
This is great! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe things we can't see last forever. I love that last line and I have hope.
ReplyDeleteAll the joys that are waiting for us, we can't possibly comprehend, but I will take God at His word! It's going to be fabulous! Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful and restful Sunday, Clif.

Amen, amen.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering aloud this morning about how some people of God suffer. In particular, I mentioned Billy Graham. What a struggle he is enduring, yet he doesn't give up.
ReplyDeleteGod knows more than I do, and this verse encourages me to keep on keeping on. Thank you, Clif.
Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great paraphrase, Clif! It offers hope and encourages us to look beyond what we see...which is truly very little, just a tiny piece of the big picture. We do have a very small vision sometimes...I know I do.
ReplyDeleteGod bless,
Mary
A wonderful, encouraging post, Cliff. Thank you, and thank God He is our hope. And your music is so pretty.

I felt so renewed after a busy work last night. To be reminded that any hardship is nothing compared to what we have to look forward to. Thank you for this. God bless you and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Clif for this wonderful message. It really does put everything into perspective. As Christians we do have sooo much to look forward to.

Hi Clif, Oh I like this version as well. With hope and Jesus in our hearts we can't give up, Never. Keep me prayer as my heart is saddened that one of our lady pastors went to meet jesus tonight. She was a great friend and woman of God, She leaves behind her husband who is also a pastor and a 13 yr old son.
