THERE HAS TO BE A MORNING AFTER

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

Guess what? The sun came up this morning in the great state of Arizona.

I opened my eyes and repeated to myself the words from Psalm 118:24, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

For whatever reason, Barack Obama has been elected President of the United States.

I can accept that but I don’t have to like it. But I do have to live with it.

And live with it I will. I know this world is not my permanent home. As the old song says, “I’m just a passin’ through, my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue…”.

So until Jesus comes again I will try to heed the words of the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 (New International Version)
29What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none; 30those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; 31those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.

What Paul was saying was—live in this world but don’t settle down-- this is not home!

Thank you Clif, these are good words. I'm still trying to put words together, mine are not as sweet as yours. I hardly slept last night and I refuse to turn on the TV today.

Thanks for your words. I came to your blog to get some encouragement after the election. Yes, God is still in control and for some reason this is His will since hundreds were praying for His will to be done.
Blessings.

He watches over the wicked and ther righteous...and
"vingeance is mine sayeth the Lord"...so I rest on His words knowing He KNOWS ALL and will one day TAKE CARE of it...
meanwhile we will pray for our enemies and/or our leaders as He asks us to...

Thank you, Clif. I have never gotten so worked up about an election before and I was greatly disturbed when Obama won last night. Like Yellow Rose Arbor, I didn't get much sleep last night either. However, like you said, "Today is a new day." And I would just like to add, as I posted on my blog: "I know not what the future holds, but I know who holds the future."

Like you, Clif, I have to accept Obama but I don't have to like it.
I can't ever remember being so into an election because I felt it was that important. As you said in a previous post God knows what is best for us and we will have to watch and wait for what is to be. I have to wonder though, are we seeing the first of the "birth pangs?"

Cliff, I like your style, Great post! Our hope is built on nothing less, then Jesus Christ and His righteousness.

God bless you dear brother.
