THE BOOK THAT TOUCHED ME THE MOST IN 2009

Thursday, December 31, 2009

My dear blogging friend, Caroline asked me which book of all those I reviewed in 2009 touched me the most.

Good question!  Since Caroline doesn't have a blog and I don't have her email address I thought I would respond to her question here.

I looked back over all the books I reviewed. I picked out the ones I considered the best of the best and I couldn't come up with just one title. I couldn't narrow it down to two, three or even four.

I was touched in different ways by them all. I didn't read a bad book last year.

I think the value of a book to you will depend on where you are in life at the time you are reading the book.

As we come to the end of the year and move into a new year I do not have a single book laying around waiting to be reviewed. I do not have any books coming in to be reviewed. I planned it this way. In 2010 I plan to only accept for review books that I personally want to read or that I feel will be of value to the readers of my blog.

In the past I reviewed some books simply because they were offered. And it's true I discovered some great books and great authors this way. But now I want to read slower and meditate more on what I am reading.
I want to be more thoughtful!

What will be my first review for 2010? I can't wait to find out!

Oh Clif, thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my question. I am glad each book touched you in a different way and that you did not read a bad book.

I very much appreciate all your reviews. Thank you. I look forward to the ones you will do in the New Year. There is I think a sense of peace when you decide what you want to do in certain areas in a coming year. I like what you have decided to do because it will be what will be meaningful to you and in the long run to those you bless.

I have, this latter part of the year, been catching up on books that have been waiting to be read. It has been hard having no job but I thank the Lord that He has given me peace of mind to be able to read, so I hope to be caught up on my reading soon!

A Happy New Year to you and your family Clif. Thank you for the blessing you blog has been to me during this year which was a tough one. I look to the New one with Hope (remembering one of your posts on Hope!)

P.S. I thought you had my email because I have been blessed and fortunate to win 3 books this year from you! Here is it anyway: clesiew@gmail.com

Happy New Year's Eve, Clif!

I actually feel a little worse today than yesterday, so will need to rest more today...I'm really sick of being sick, as the saying goes, but it has to run its course. However, I did want to check my blog, and your comment really made me chuckle. I do understand...it would be like me reading a blog about fishing or duck hunting...what could I say, except "um, yeah, nice!"

Good for you about your decision to read only books that appeal to you personally. I'm not sure I could read for review purposes, so I commend you on this wonderful ability, but it will be nice to choose only those books that will speak to you. I agree about "where we're at the time"...I've read books that I really needed, but would no longer find them applicable...I'm grateful that they were there when they were.

Well, time for more Zicam and a nap. I hope to participate by Saturday or Sunday...right now, I just want to read a few blogs and sleep!

God bless,
Mary

Hi again, Clif...I just read your Superman post, and love it! We are finally ready to hire a gardner, and maybe someone to clean the house occasionally. I am thinking like Kat...we help others make a little money to support their families, while we save our poor backs from major damage. And I also agree that there are other ways to be Superman...spiritually, emotionally, and in character...you merit a huge S on your red and blue suit for being a person that your family and friends love, admire and respect...that's much more important!

God bless,
Mary

Perhaps you can post about your top ten reads of 2009, instead :)? I posted mine at http://bornagainandblessed.blogspot.com/2009/12/my-top-ten-reads-of-2009.html .
