I'm convinced that God still answers prayer today. The Bible says that God answers prayer and that is enough for me. Several scientific studies have verified the benefit of prayer. But I also believe God answers prayer today because of personal experience.
Bishop William Temple said, "When I pray, coincidences happen. When I don't pray, coincidences don't happen."
Max Lucado wrote:
You can talk to God because God listens. Your voice matters in heaven. He takes you very seriously. When you enter his presence, the attendants turn to you to hear your voice. No need to fear that you will be ignored. Even if you stammer or stumble, even if what you have to say impresses no one, it impresses God--and he listens. ...Your prayers move God to change the world. You may not understand the mystery of prayer. You don't need to. But this much is clear: Actions in heaven begin when someone prays on earth. What an amazing thought! When you speak, Jesus hears. And when Jesus hears, the world is changed. All because someone prayed.
(My wife, Charlotte, requested prayers last week because of some health issues. Many of you prayed and we are deeply and sincerely grateful. Our blogging friends are a company of concerned individuals and we feel honored to know you. Soren Kierkegaard said, "God answers every prayer, for either he gives us what we pray for, or something far better.")

So true, and sometimes that something far better doesn't seem like it at the time. Sometimes it takes more time. God is not on our timetable. But it is always true.
Charlotte
I know God answers my prayers too. God is good all the time and I praise Him for letting me meet the two of you! Praise Him for Charlotte's continued good health! <3
Yes God hears and answers and not always on our timeframe but then again what HE answers isn't what we want so we wonder why HE isn't answering or HOW it is that HE is working in our interest.....trusting that no matter what is going on is HIS will or that HE will work good out of it is just a part of our growing in Faith and Trust in HIM....
So thankful for the blessing that HE has done in and for Charlotte....Love to you both and so thankful for HIS blessing me with the two of you!!
We just need to lay it down at the foot of the cross and trust Him.
Sometimes, that is easier said than done. We want our prayers answered in our time, and in our way. But, God always has a plan and it is perfect. Blessings to you and Charlotte.
This is so good, Clif! Prayer truly is where the action is!
PS Such great news about Charlotte!
yes, God does indeed answer our prayers...maybe not the answer we were looking for but the one we need, and only he knows.
And even when we don't understand why we go through certain trials, or why God seems silent, it is He who gives us strength to go on.
Clif,
I'm am so happy about Charlotte's wonderful news. Sometimes I feel like I don't do enough as a Christian but I feel that praying is a huge part of being a Christian and I do a lot of praying! I feel so blessed to be able to say that I am family. You have touched my heart.
God Bless,
Ginger
I LOVE this..."Actions in heaven begin when someone prays on earth. What an amazing thought! When you speak, Jesus hears. And when Jesus hears, the world is changed. All because someone prayed." AMEN to this. So glad to hear about Charlotte. Have a wonderful week. Blessings, Debbie
I struggle sometimes as regards prayer. Thank you for the thoughts on this post. I do pray your health issues are being answered in prayer.
What a wonderful comfort to know we have a Father who hears us.
I'm so thankful our God hears and answers prayers. I wrote my Laced With Grace article about this last Thursday. I am seeing more answers to some prayers we've been praying and that is encouraging to me.
I'm thankful God answered prayers in Charlotte's favor!
In my lifetime I've experienced answered prayers in many ways, mostly what I desired, but some were answered in unexpected ways. He knows best! It is very hard to let things go, put it in His hands, but He knows best!

Praising God with you for the awesome news.
He indeed answers prayers when we pray according to His will. I'm so glad to hear about Charlotte's great news.
And I was so consumed with out-of-town company that I didn't even link in until the afternoon! See, God can work even without me! He IS good.
Yes, God does hear and answer our prayers. Not always to our liking, but he does answer and does what He feels is best for each of us. I really liked what Max Lucado had to say here...
God bless. So glad Charlotte's medical issues turned out well.
I do believe in the power of prayer....we have not b/c we ask not. Ask and you shall recieve. I pray your wife is feeling better. Sarah
How truly wonderful our God is! So glad he hears and answers our prayers. You and Charlotte look like a wonderful couple. My thoughtful husband of 20+ years was an answer to a childhood prayer.
Some great quotes here about the power of prayer!
Clif,
My post today is about answered prayer...He is so wonderful and knows exactly what each of us needs and when!
I really like Max Lucado so thanks for including his words on your post!
Very glad Charlotte is okay!

I missed Charlotte's post asking for prayer, but I am thankul that even though I didn't pray, God took care of her anyway.
As you already know, I do believe in prayer. I would not be alive today if it had not been for God answering prayer.
Life can change in a moment!
I am thankful that whether I live or die, I am the Lord's.
Beautiful, Cliff, thank God for hearing and answering our prayers.
Hi Clif,
Thank you for coming over for a visit on Spiritual Sunday. I am always glad to see Christian brothers share their faith and wisdom. I pray for health and happiness for you and your family.
God be with you!
Yoi
I am so glad to hear the prayers for Charlotte's health have been answered, God does listen. How lucky you are to have each other! You both will be in my prayers for continued good health in the years to come. Anita
Yes, God does answer prayer. Sometimes, you hear it said" At least I can pray", but I believe prayer is the most we can do & then act on the guidance it brings .
Blessings,
~Myrna
