There is great truth in the following words from Richard Foster. Please read them slowly, meditate on them and let them sink in:The discovery of God lies in the daily and the ordinary, not in the spectacular and the heroic. If we cannot find God in the routines of home and shop, then we will not find him at all.

AMEN!
Sometimes the most powerful words are also the shortest.
So true. Often times the simplest things are the most profound.
I like Richard Foster's writings. I have one of his books. "Prayer Treasury"
This is a good thought to ponder, Clif. Was it Mother Teresa who said, "Ordinary tasks done with extraordinary love"?
As I've grown older, I do try and appreciate everyday miracles ... but I've never heard it put quite this perfectly!
This is so true Clif. Perhaps that is why we sometimes miss Him and what He is saying. His is the still small voice in an ordinary day. Thank you for sharing such a profound truth with us.
I think everyday is a miracle...I love this simple but powerful message. Sarah
And sometimes, they are not captured with cameras...They are stored in our hearts. God bless.
So very, very true.
Pure truth! And, oh so wonderful.

Oh is this ever so incredibly true. AMEN to it all.
Good one, Clif.
WOW! Powerful and true.

When we all have big plans for the New Year it's good to be reminded the small ordinary things still count.
I absolutely agree with this, Clif! We had to leave our home church a few years ago because they were always looking for the spectacular, searching for "more of God", etc. and the people there were running from church to church in hopes of being "set on fire". In my life, God is in every minute of the day..from making beds to doing a bible study...just as if He were walking and talking right along beside me. I don't have to go anywhere to find Him...He's always here.
I've got another cold, so am staying home from church today and don't feel like working on my declutter/organizing, so trying to do a little catch up on blog visiting...was just reading some of your previous posts, and they are speaking to me in a big way. I always know I can come here and find insight, inspiration, and encouragement...even if you don't intend to, you do, as He uses you as His voice to speak to me, and so many others...words of gentle guidance, but that also wake us up to spiritual truths that bring change...and you do so with delightful humor that makes us laugh and smile...something we all need so much...thank you!
And thank you for your wonderful comment on my last post... it meant so very much to me, and I greatly appreciate your words of wisdom and concern, and most importantly, your prayers. Knowing that you are praying for me strengthens me...I couldn't ask for more. I know that God will hear you, and He will answer.
God bless, and thanks again for this great post.
Mary
Beautiful words. Beautiful music. Thanks.
beautiful, simple, and very true.
I agree, this is so true. I read a verse in Job the other day about the rain/snow and how those make us stop work and remember God.
He is with us always and wants to be near to us.
God desires to sit around the kitchen table with us. We often think He's so far off, but He isn't. Thanks, Clif. This was refreshing.
Thank you for that wonderful quote, Clif.
Clif,
So simple - so true.

Hello Cliff, so glad you posted those words. My weekend trip with 2 teens leaves me needing words of wisdom for daily survival. My kids are active and are full of questions. I need to seee God in their daily teen routine. Thank you for the reminder. ~ Yoli :)
thanks for visiting Cliff. And I do agree. I have read and re-read Brother Lawrence's writings in Practicing the Presence of God so many times I lost count, and your quote today is exactly what he lived. He walked with God. He talked with God all the time. It is an awesome and inspiring little read. He was intimately involved with his Lord. That is my desire.
That is so true . Everything we do is spiritual work, washing dishes & cleaning the house ,etc. is for me because he is what he has for me to do . As well as if you teach a church class or do any church work if we are his , it is all spiritual.
He is my life, in him I live & move & have my being .Also , how we react to situations & adverse circumstances in our lives , it is all a chance to submit to him , to say not my will ,but yours be done.
Blessings,
~Myrna
