I WONDER WHAT I WILL GET FOR CHRISTMAS
I wonder how many of those presents under the tree are for me.
Could the one that's so big it's leaning against the wall be for me?
We live in one of the most affluent cultures in the world. Yet, we are one of the most dissatisfied cultures on record.
As long as we think more is better, we'll never be satisfied.
It's not necessarily bad to want things. But it seems that whatever we get--it's never enough.
We need to develop a new appreciation for the blessings we already enjoy.
There are only a few days left before Christmas. We can spend that time wanting more and chasing after happiness or we can make up our minds to want less and give more.
"You'll not likely go wrong here if you keep remembering that our Master said, 'You're far happier giving than getting.' " Acts 20:35 The Message

Happier giving than getting...I forget this sometimes. Thank you, Clif, for this post. Bless you, friend.
In this season when mammon is having a field day with Christians and non-Christians alike, it's good to be reminded of what the true meaning of Christmas is. Thank you for sharing this timely message.
Wonderfully said, Clif!
I'm saddened that the True Meaning of Christmas is lost on so many.
All the same ... I can't wait to hear what's in that "big" gift leaning against your wall! :)
Amen! Times are tough and for everyone, that means less presents under the tree. For some, sadly, it means none. But Jesus is the best present anyone could ever receive!!!!
It's my first visit and I am so impressed by your blog! I can tell I will learn a lot here. Bess
great thoughts. My kids and I spent the day in the inner city helping. My oldest...14 told me she loved it so much she wants to go back. Giving is like breathing...it feels so great.
Very insightful post. Have a blessed Sunday.
So very true Clif! We all want more more more. I always think of that song by the Donut man from when my kids were little. Life without Jesus is like a donut cause there's a hole in the middle of your heart. ONLY Jesus Satisfies. ONLY HE fills the hole in our hearts & minds.
It is so true Cliff. My mother is 84 years old and every year she organizes the collection of food for the food shelf in Vermont. She sets up the boxes in the two buildings in her retirement village. She watches as each week the boxes are filled so that the children can have a Christmas dinner.
She taught us every year that Christmas was about giving to the less fortunate. It made Christmas so much more meaningful. I am thankful for her inspiration.
Blessings, Karen
Excellent post, Clif! Not only is it better to give than to receive but it makes you feel good too! Thanks for this.

This is so true Clif. For me I feel that less is more.
