SEASONS

Sunday, September 10, 2006

Growing up in Oklahoma I was never too thrilled with the winter months. When I went to college in Texas I disliked the cold winter wind. And then I moved to California and lived there for years without any “real” sign of winter. Now I live in Arizona and like California, there is no big change in the seasons.

I like the different seasons of the year and I wish sometimes the seasons were more distinct in Arizona. However, I never want to live again where there are cold winters. But I do realize that God knew what he was doing when he gave us different seasons.

God not only controls the weather, he controls the cycles in our lives. Solomon said: “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven (Eccl. 3:1).

God knows what he is doing when he gives us a time to sow and to reap, to weep and to laugh, to mourn and to dance, to gain and to lose, to keep silent and to speak, to love and to hate.

It’s a little different outside today. I think fall is in the air.

My baby brother (he is 12 years younger than I) were sitting on my partially finished front porch last night enjoying the change in the season. After the unrelenting heat of AZ. we really appreciate the definate change in the season. It is still moderately hot in the days here but definately cool in the a.m. and p.m. We were commenting that we can add that change as one more of our many blessings.
