Courage does not panic; it prays. Courage does not bemoan; it believes. Courage does not languish; it listens. It listens to the voice of God calling through Scripture, "Fear not!" It hears Christ's voice comforting through the hospital corridors, graveyards, and war zones:
Be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven. (Matt. 9:2)
Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid. (Matt. 14:27)
When reports come in of wars and rumored wars, keep your head and don't panic. (Matt. 24:6 MSG)
Let not your heart be troubled. (John 14:1)
Don't let your hearts be troubled or afraid. (John 14:27 NCV)
Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12:7)
Don't be afraid. (Luke 12:7 NIV)

Clif,
Fear is from the enemy and yet God counteracts that so beautiful with courage, faith and joy.

Hi Clif,
Excellent writings! I will remember to apply them in the face of this storm that is coming our way. Even though we can do nothing about the weather; we can trust God to take care of us in the midst of it. Thank you for sharing and Happy Sunday.
Blessings,
Sandi
These are excellent scriptures, and I have read them many of times.

So thankful the Lord did not give us a spirit of Fear but of POWER LOVE and a SOUND MIND!
bless you Clif
Human way...courage is when men conquer the tallest mountains or swam the deepest seas...Not realizing it only takes to admit "you're sorry" and take responsibility for something one had done wrong...to me...that is courage...Thank you for sharing those wonderful verses. Blessings.
Love these verses...it took me years to understand that God's love cast out all fear...fear or man, fear of the unknown...there's nothing to fear when walking in the light of the Lord. So easy to understand...so hard to live by. Wishing you a blessed Spiritual Sunday. Mary
"Let your heart not be troubled"
Thank you for helping to remember that.
God bless you Anne
I believe God never intended his words to be difficult (to interpret). Some of the most powerful are, at the same time, so simply put. Thank you, Clif (and Max!) for reminding us of these abiding truths!
Have yourselves a wonderful weekend,
Myra
When fear grips me I read these verses and it is amazing how calming the Word of God is! I love all the verses above.
It is comforting to know He is always with me, and I can lean on Him. Have a Happy Sunday.
Wonderful verses and words to sustain us when times are rough. Thank you for sharing these.

Thank you for the reminder of these encouraging verses from scripture. God bless you, Judith
Thanks for your reminders.
Clif, Thank you for those words. Our strength is in the Lord!
The Word gives us courage, doesn't it?
Thanks for the encouragement!
I think I have been allowing fear too much in my life lately. Thank you for the reminder that we should not because we have God who is above all. Courage that we have only because of Him!
I had a full day of writing a research on privacy in care homes within my Province. As I read through this post, tears filled my eyes...
Thanks Clif for this post
