Being the last living child out of seven, I sometimes feel lonely.
My nephew, Michael and his wife, Kathy have been visiting from California.
We had not seen them for over thirty years.
Michael is my sister's third child. When we were growing up. He lived in Florida and I lived in Oklahoma.
We have both reached the age that we realize the importance of family.
They left this morning to return home to California. They took a piece of my heart with them.
Yes, it's sad when love ones leave. But it reminds me of the old saying, "It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." What a loss if they hadn't come.
An old mother I know, used to say to her son when he was leaving from a visit to her home, "Love to see you come--hate to see you go."
Take it from this old man: FAMILY IS IMPORTANT! MAKE THE MOST OF IT WHILE YOU CAN.

Clif,
It is a motto my mother has always instilled in us, "If you don't have family, what else do you have? Family means the world!"

Amen! Family is everything! Have a wonderful day, Clif.

That is awesome that you got to see your nephew and his wife! After so many years...Blessings.
Clif,
I just got back from PA and a visit with my Daughter, SIL and Grandbaby! I make the effort as often as I can because I know the importance of having a relationship with my kids and grandkids. I am so glad you got the chance to make up some lost time with your nephew and his wife.

Clif,
What a great picture and what a heartfelt post! So glad you were able to spend time with them!
Family is sooo very important and it is that very reason that I will be returning to Florida on Monday....to cherish yet another week with my Dad! to love, to serve, to chat whatever it is I don't care just being together will be a blessing!
Bless you Clif
Your words have touched a part of me I've "pushed aside" for lots of years, Clif.
As an "only child" I've always gravitated towards friends with large extended families.... yet, always had one excuse or another for avoiding cousin reunions (geographically undesirable, lack of funds, etc., etc.) 'Figured there was always time next year ... or the year after that. Last year my "closest" cousin Sue passed suddenly from previously undiagnosed ovarian cancer. We'd not seen each other in more than 30 years, but I always reasoned, "next year."
Thanks for this post. Love the smiles on your faces!!!
G'night now,
Myra
What a wonderful family picture! I'm so glad you had this time with them. Family is everything, second only to the Lord. I'm in California...half of my family is here and half is in Arizona...thankfully, it isn't so far that we can't visit. Even after a year or so, it's like we had just seen each other a day before...we just pick up where we left off. Nice post today, thanks. Mary
So glad you had such a nice visit with family, better late than never!
I like those quotes. Here's a couple that are more tongue in cheek: my dad used to say "It's better to leave when you don't want us to, than to wait till you want us to!! LOL!
The other one I'm sure you've heard: "visitors are like fish, after three days they start smelling and you have to throw them out!" LOL!
You asked about my profile picture, it's been there for a few months! It's even on your Followers! LOL! Better watch out for who follows you! ;-)

What a nice picture. I will have to tell Wayne to look at your blog. He may already have because he reads it every day, but today was a crazy day so I'm not sure.
I'm glad you had a nice visit.

I agree family is everything. Thanks Clif.
True. The older I get, the more important family becomes.
I learned this earlier than most people. The sad part is that most of my family haven't realized it yet. I believe a lot of it has to do with the love the good Lord puts in our hearts as well, and the majority of my family are still not believers.
So nice to visit you again, Clif. It's been a while.
I completely agree! Thank you for sharing about yours.
